Reports this morning are saying that Tengzhong, the company currently trying to purchase HUMMER from General Motors, may team up with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp (SAIC) to produce HUMMER branded vehicles in China.
HUMMER’s CEO noted recently that the company is considering production in China, but primarily for in-country distribution. HUMMER has long term plans to continue producing models in the U.S. for North America and elsewhere, and has even shipped equipment from South Africa to Shreveport, Louisiana so right-hand-drive models can also be produced in the U.S. for export.
On Tuesday, both Tengzhong and SAIC denied the reports according to China’s Global Times.

If hummers are made outside of the U.S. and shipped in to the states then the whole idea of having Hummer be an iconic American Brand is destroyed. American Hummers need to be produced in America, its an American icon.
I AGREE ,They need to start a large P.R.ADD CAMPAIGN SO MUCH Negative DAMAGE THE LAST TWO YEARS .THE brand is and still can be a great American icon. They need to get aggressive to boast the name again. They once had the best service of any vehicle I have ever owned.IT WILL TAKE SERVICE, ADVERTISEMENT ,AND PRODUCTION OF GREAT SUVs and trucks to get the ball rolling again….Even if owned by the china they need to produce and market American jobs.HUMMER LIKE NOTHING ELSE MADE IN THE USA……
HUMMERs in the US are going to be built in the US….
Hummer is a really great SUV too bad GM sold them out.GM does not have anything to compare to the h-3 or h-2..
Great suvs BUT WHATS WITH THE 20s on the H-2s any body make a 35/12.50/20 that will work on the new H-2s or do you have to just go back to TA KO 315/70/17
Hummer’s are no longer an “iconic” American Brand! They are an “Iconic” Chinese brand. There seems to be a lot of people going through denial right now but the facts are the facts. When they find out how much cheaper, in both cost and quality, they can make them in China, it will not be long before all production will be moved to the land of Mao. It would be interesting to see why GM sold, or was forced to sell, the Hummer Brand. I’m currently in Dubai and these people can not get enough of them. A dealer in the states told me he could’nt get enough H3’s to meet demand. There has to be more to it!
Ever thing you buy is made in CHINA the USA IS BORROWING $$$$$ BILLIONS FROM CHINA .SO IF THEY WANT TO BUY THE LAST AMERICAN ICON I GUESS ILL BUY CHINESE SUVs .MAYBE Ford would buy HUMMER and keep it ALL AMERICAN
